Features
About 70 feelings and occasions — happy, pleading, shy, thank you… — each with the kaomoji and emoji people actually use, matched by hand.
Bracketed face-like strings are detected and classified by eyes, mouth, tears, sweat and attached half-width katakana words. Guessed parts are underlined with dots.
Tap a converted part to swap it for another emoji or kaomoji of the same feeling, or rotate all of them at once.
Skin tones (👍🏽), gendered sequences (🙇♀️) and variation selectors are treated as the same feeling. ASCII emoticons (:) XD <3 orz) are converted too.

FAQ
Some kaomoji were not converted
Faces without brackets or decoration-only strings may fall outside the parser. Unconverted parts are listed under the result; search kaomoji.omikuji.dev for a similar face to learn its feeling.
The guess was wrong
Dotted parts are guesses from the face shape. Tap to choose another candidate, or set the direction manually and convert again. Kaomoji are read differently by different people, so the final pick is yours.
Is my text stored?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Only the direction and theme settings are kept in your browser.
What is the difference between kaomoji and emoji?
Kaomoji are faces built from characters, like (^^), and show as text everywhere. Emoji, like 😊, are single characters defined as pictures whose artwork differs by device. See kaomoji.omikuji.dev and emoji.omikuji.dev for more.
How do I type kaomoji and emoji on my phone or PC?
On iPhone and Android, the Japanese keyboard suggests kaomoji when you type words like かお (face) or にこ (smile); emoji come from the emoji key. On Windows press the Windows key + period for the emoji panel; on Mac press control + command + space. If your text already has kaomoji or emoji and you just want to swap one for the other, pasting it into this tool is the quickest way.
