❓ FAQ

How is BMI calculated?

Weight (kg) divided by height (m) squared. Ideal weight is the weight at BMI 22, i.e. 22 × height(m)².

What is the difference between the two BMR equations?

Mifflin-St Jeor (1990) is considered the more accurate for modern populations and is the default in most calculators. The revised Harris-Benedict (1984) is older and tends to give slightly higher values.

What activity factors are used for TDEE?

Sedentary 1.2, lightly active 1.375, moderately active 1.55, very active 1.725, extra active 1.9, multiplied by BMR.

How are the weight-loss targets calculated?

Assuming 1 kg of body fat ≈ 7,200 kcal, a 0.5 kg weekly loss needs about 514 kcal/day less (shown as 500). Targets never go below BMR.
