❓ FAQ

How is the pre-tax price calculated from a tax-inclusive price?

Price including tax ÷ (1 + rate). At 10% divide by 1.1, at 8% by 1.08. The tax is the difference, with rounding applied.

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a share of the price; markup is profit as a share of the cost. Cost 600 and price 1,000 give a 40% margin and a 66.7% markup.

How is the price for a target margin calculated?

Price = cost ÷ (1 − margin). Cost 600 with a 40% margin gives 600 ÷ 0.6 = 1,000.

Is rounding applied to the discount?

Discount results are shown to two decimals; tax amounts use the rounding you choose.
