Reading the PDF, drawing thumbnails, splitting and saving all happen inside your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is never uploaded to a server. Files are not stored in the URL or in localStorage and are gone when you close the page.

❓ FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The thumbnails (pdf.js) and the page extraction (pdf-lib) are both done by libraries running inside your browser. Once the page has loaded, it works offline too.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate page numbers with commas and join consecutive pages with a hyphen, like "1-3, 5, 8-". "8-" means page 8 to the end and "-3" means the first three pages. With Split → Each typed range, every comma-separated range becomes one file ("1-3, 4-6" gives two files).

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Only the page's rotation setting is changed; the images and text inside are not re-rendered, so you can rotate as often as you like.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

No. PDFs that need a password to open and PDFs that restrict printing or editing are encrypted, so they cannot be split. This tool does not remove passwords or restrictions.

Are bookmarks and links kept?

Bookmarks (the outline) are not carried over. Links and annotations on the pages are kept, but internal links pointing to pages you did not extract will stop working.
